Taxes
I will never vote for a tax increase, under any circumstances, period! The government (state, local, and federal) already takes enough of our hard-earned money as it is. Insanely high property taxes increase the cost of housing, create barriers to home ownership, and contribute to the increasing homelessness afflicting our communities. Senior citizens and those on fixed incomes will be driven from their homes if property taxes continue to increase. The government doesn’t need more tax revenue; it needs to better manage the money they already collect from us. In Olympia, I will work to reduce spending, so that we can actually cut taxes and put a permanent cap on property taxes. We as private citizens are required to live within our means, and our government should be held to the same standard. I will always fight to hold our government accountable to us.
Defend Parental Rights in Education
I believe our local schools must prioritize transparency and give parents more control over their children’s education. Despite years of increased funding in our district and across Washington, the results haven't improved for our students and families. It’s clear that simply increasing budgets isn’t solving the issues in our schools. We need better oversight to ensure that our education dollars are being used effectively to enhance student outcomes and provide the high-quality education every child deserves.
I support expanding school choice options, so parents can choose the best educational paths for their children. Whether through traditional public schools, vocational programs, or alternative options, such as charter schools, our students should have access to opportunities that match their individual needs and interests. Additionally, I am committed to keeping our curriculum focused on core academic subjects—reading, writing, math, and science. Our schools should provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in the modern world.
No Tolls! No Light Rail!
A decade ago, the people of Southwest Washington spoke decisively and made it known that they did not support a new Columbia River Crossing project, particularly the extension of Portland's light rail system into Vancouver. Today, there are renewed attempts to defy the will of the people and push for light rail expansion across the river. I firmly oppose this effort. Having worked in downtown Portland, and been forced to rely on the MAX due to the city's severe parking and traffic issues, I have experienced firsthand the Portland's poorly operated and unsafe public transit system. I believe that extending light rail to Vancouver would merely serve as a conduit for Portland's escalating issues with crime and homelessness.
In Olympia, I will strongly advocate for practical infrastructure solutions, including the construction of a new I-5 bridge with expanded lanes. I also believe that an additional river crossing must be prioritized to ease congestion and improve traffic flow. However, under no circumstances will I support any project that includes outdated light rail or burdensome tolling. The imposition of tolls would penalize citizens of Southwest Washington who work in Oregon, adding to the millions in Oregon State taxes already paid by Clark County residents. I will remain committed to ensuring that Southwest Washington receives the infrastructure it needs without compromising the interests and values of its residents.
Support Police & Law Enforcement
I am a proud supporter of the law enforcement community and law enforcement professionals, and I will stand tall and firm on their issues in Olympia. That is why I have been endorsed by the Washington Council of Police & Sheriffs (WACOPS) and the Vancouver Police Officers Guild (VPOG). We cannot allow the state legislature to pass laws that limit the ability of law enforcement professionals to safely perform their duties. This is the only way they can effectively protect us, the people. We must support those in law enforcement, while still holding individuals accountable for the manner in which they perform their duties. The solution will never be to “defund the police.” The solution begins with adequately funding law enforcement so that they can receive appropriate training and support to perform their duties. We must ensure that those in leadership positions promote and implement a culture of responsibility and accountability to the communities they serve.
Protect Our Constitutional Rights
I am dedicated to safeguarding the property rights that both the U.S. and State Constitutions guarantee, recognizing that the right to own private property is a cornerstone of a free society. I believe citizens should feel secure in their homes and property, free from excessive government interference or unreasonable regulations. As politicians increasingly seek to impose restrictions, I will stand firm in defending these essential rights. I am committed to protecting not only property rights but also our broader constitutional freedoms, ensuring that individual liberties are upheld for all.
